Travel Tips, Schedules, & Maps
San Angelo is the county seat of Tom Green County, Texas and has a population of approximately 110,000. With all the major chains represented, there are many lovely hotels, restaurants, and stores to be found. San Angelo is about 200 miles from Austin, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Lubbock, and San Antonio, Texas. It is almost in the dead center of Texas. A bit of trivia, it is the only large-ish city in the US without direct interstate highway access!
American Airlines flies daily directly into Mathis Field in San Angelo! Ft. Concho, the event venue is about 20 minutes from the airport. Lyft and local taxis are both available as are several major Car Rental companies. (Even Jim Bass Ford has a car rental option!)
We highly recommend attendees joining our Facebook Group “Cowboy Ways Nowadays” where sharing transportation and / or hotel rooms is possible. It’s more economical and so much more fun! We, the Cowboy Way Jubilee, Oleeta Jean LLC, & Leslei Fisher, personally, claim no liability for this, share at your own risk.
As an optional three-days prior to the 2020 Cowboy Way Jubilee — a “Discover Tour” of San Angelo and the surrounding area. Learn all about it by clicking here!
Our Official Cowboy Way Jubilee Hotels provide attendees with special event rates and are listed below. Please call the Hotels DIRECTLY in order to get the group rate — tell them you are with the “Cowboy Way Jubilee.” All hotels come with high recommendations from the San Angelo Visitors & Conventions Bureau. Please check with each hotel regarding their policy on pets.

The local San Angelo Regional Airport/Mathis Field (SJT) is the nearest airport. It is serviced by both American Airlines and Alaska Airlines. American has several daily flights from D/FW airport at Dallas/Fort Worth. As soon as we have group flight reservations information for American Airlines we will post it here. We do recommend you arrive a day earlier than usual as you’ll most likely have a long travel day.
Your other airport options are:
Dallas Love Field (DAL)
DFW International Airport (DFW)
Austin-Bergstrom International Airport(AUS)
Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport (LBB)
San Antonio International Airport (SAT)
We recommend flying into DFW International Airport and catching a connector into San Angelo. However if you’d prefer a road trip experience it is an easy 2-1/2 to 4 hour drive from DFW, Austin, Lubbock or San Antonio. (LOTS of mesquite trees and some beautiful country!)
American Airlines has daily flights from the Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport (DFW) to the San Angelo Regional Airport — Mathis Field (SJT). Please call American 1-800-433-1790 and provide this group number: A8740DE to get the best rate. (It also helps us to bring in more celebrities by keeping our airfare costs down!)

You really must use the GPS that’s pretty much everywhere now! But for those of you who are into maps, here you go:
From D/FW Airport go to the North Exit of the airport. Follow highway past North Exit to TX Hwy 114 West. It will be a right exit and loop over to the left. 114 merges with TX Hwy 121 in about 2.5 miles. Take 121 West, about 12 miles, to Ft. Worth. Take the exit for I-820 West (another right exit that loops across). In about 19 miles exit to I-30 West (Exit 3A off I-820). In a little over 6 miles, I-30 merges into I-20. Continue West on I-20 to Cisco, Texas, exit 330. It’s about 90 miles to Exit 330. At Exit 330, go left over the interstate and continue SSW on TX Hwy 206 South. It’s 2 lanes with a wide shoulder for the next hour and a half but it’s a good road, recently paved. At Coleman, TX, google maps takes you on a jog through town that’s a very good short cut, plus you get to see a bit of town. Continue on TX Hwy 206 all the way to US 67. Hook a right onto US 67 and take it into San Angelo. (The Highway becomes 4 lanes divided so you know you’re getting close!).
Once in San Angelo, exit off of US 67 to “Oakes St./ Chadbourne St./ Martin L. King/ Downtown/ Historic San Angelo” (whew!). Turn left onto Oakes Street (South). In 1.3 Miles Ft. Concho National Historic Landmark will be on the left! For parking, Turn onto East Avenue B / Henry O Flipper, parking lots will be on the right past the building.
The address for the 2020 Cowboy Way Jubilee is
Fort Concho National Historic Landmark
